Who are the Greenwich Stars?

Now in our 16th Year, The Greenwich Stars are the most popular and respected basketball organization in the region. The Greenwich Stars have won (7) Zero Gravity National Championships!

The Greenwich Stars are based in Greenwich, CT at (5) Terrific locations. We welcome elite, travel, school, recreational and new players. Basketball seasons are: Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer

Our Boys and Girls Basketball Players (ages 2-18) are from 38 towns in Connecticut and New York. We have AAU/Travel basketball teams, leagues, clinics, training sessions and small group and individual instruction. Private instruction is also available at our facilities or your home.

Scholarships are available.

The Greenwich Stars are not a sports factory like so many others. We truly care about all our players and their families. We are in the basketball world to have a positive and lasting impact on every one of our players. Our professional basketball coaches are exceptional – on and off the court!

No matter what kind of player you are, we have a program, a team, a league and a clinic for you.

Are partial and full “scholarships" available?

Yes. Absolutely. Scholarships are available and offered on a case-by-case basis.

How will the players be selected for the AAU/Travel Basketball Teams?

The Greenwich Stars have 16-18 Teams Playing in the Fall, Winter and Spring Seasons. Players will be evaluated on their basketball ability, skill level, athleticism, attitude and more. The Coaches and The President/General Manager work together to select team members.

Is there a fee for trying out and how do you evaluate players?

Unlike most other programs, Greenwich Stars tryouts are FREE. There is never a charge for Trying Out. Players are put through basic basketball drills to evaluate the skill levels of each player. Game-like competition is also held between potential teammates for further evaluation.

Do I need to attend all the tryouts?

Only (1) Tryout is Needed.

Note: Tryouts are always FREE.

Who selects which players make a team?

The Coaches and the President/General Manager work together to select the players for each team.

Is playing time guaranteed if my child makes a Greenwich Stars AAU/Travel Team?

If you attend practice, your child will play in the games. However, there is no guaranteed amount of playing time for any player on any team. Coaches weigh many factors in deciding playing time.

My child was cut and I believe my child was a better player than players who did make the AAU/Travel Team.

Deciding who should make each team is not an exact science. The coaches and general manager will do their best to identify the best players for each team. It is important to remember that all teams need different types of players to be successful.

What makes the Greenwich Stars special?

Now, in our 16th year, The Greenwich Stars are (7) Time Zero Gravity National Basketball Champions. Our professional coaches go “the extra mile” to make sure each basketball player is the best they can possibly be. Our outstanding professional basketball coaches have extensive basketball resumes. Our coaches preach great sportsmanship, dedication and respect for the game. Swearing, poor behavior and technical fouls are not allowed on the Greenwich Stars. Ever. Every player will learn the fundamentals and skills needed to be a better player. Our practices are “learning experiences” and teamwork is emphasized….and yes, we do like to win!

Which Greenwich Stars Basketball Program should I join?

The Greenwich Stars Basketball Organization is for boys and girls ages 2-18 from all towns. The Greenwich Stars have AAU and Travel Basketball Teams, leagues, clinics and private/group instruction running (12 months a year) for every type of player. No matter what kind of player you are, we have a program, a team, a clinic and a league for you! The Greenwich Stars are based in Greenwich, CT at (5) different locations.

Does my child have to attend AAU/Travel Team Practices?

Yes. Your child should attend practice in order to get playing time in games. Our engaging and spirited practices make players better – our coaches are great teachers. Your child will learn the Greenwich Stars system and learn how to be the best player they can possibly be.

Can Parents attend Practices and Games?

Parents are always welcome at every practice and game.

My child plays other sports (Flag Football, Baseball, Lacrosse, Soccer, Softball, etc.) — would they also be able to play on Greenwich Stars teams?

Absolutely Yes. The Greenwich Stars welcome multi-sport athletes. Players should attend Greenwich Stars practices and games.
